Rain is coming - time to get your slash piles ready to burn!

A large rain event is scheduled to hit us in the first part of next week. If you are able to get your slash piles stacked and ready over this coming weekend, we can burn them for you once the storm is over. Piling your slash ahead of rain helps keep the interior of the pile dry enough to burn, even when the outside of the slash pile and the area surrounding it is wet and not able to carry fire. Following a storm is the safest time to burn, and we will be glad to do that for you if you'd like.

When building slash piles for the GRVFD to burn, please make sure that the following requirements are met:

- Must be no larger than 6 feet high and 10 feet in diameter
- Must be at least 100 feet from any structure
- Must be clear of overhead power lines
- Must not contain any household waste or petroleum-based combustibles (scrap lumber and cardboard are acceptable)
- Must have vehicular access to the slash pile

If you have any questions or require assistance, please call the Goldfield Ranch VFD on 833-GFR-FIRE (833-437-3473).
